Stories of women making a place for themselves,
in the complex world of the 1970s

Once, not so long ago- only 50 years- the sky was falling.

Our country faced:

  • A corrosive war,

  • Political division,

  • Economic upheaval,

  • Ecological destruction,

  • Rapidly changing gender roles,

  • The fight for reproductive rights,

  • Racial unrest

and the demand for greater civil rights,

  • A generation gap that left

young and old believing in different worlds…

Sound familiar?

In the 60s and 70s, over a million young people dropped out of mainstream society, looking for a better way of life.

They headed back to the land, to grow food, build homes, and live simply in harmony with the earth and each other.
My historical fiction explores how women in the back-to-the-land movement crafted meaningful lives in such complicated times.

Come with me for inspiration, determination,

and some fabulous 70s fun and funk.
